February's Meeting

Last Sunday's meeting was a jam-packed afternoon of learning and sharing.

Ingrid was a wonderful presenter and showed us all how to make a pattern from a ready-to-wear garment. Maureen's jacket was the perfect garment for Ingrid to explain how to check the grain line, how to mark the seam lines, how to join-the-dots, and why it is important to record as much information on pattern pieces as possible.

A short movie of Ingrid's presentation can be found here:

We are now looking forward to seeing Maureen's finished 'copied' jacket in lovely stretch denim later in the year at our 2011 Challenge Show and Tell.

Sunday's Show and Tell

Why make one when you can make another one? Maureen made another version of her morphed pattern skirt.

Maureen's knit top complete with perfect V neck and lace embellishment.

Stella has been busy whipping up coat hanger covers ...

... and bags.

Genevieve had much to share with regard to practising good sewing techniques. She shared her gorgeous silk top and beautiful jacket.

Jean showed us the start of a dress that she is copying.

She then shared a sewing job that was done for Ken in Bali before attending a Scottish evening.

Elizabeth completed her skirt and top from beautiful flowing blue silk which she modelled for us.

Ingrid made a bag from a Burda Style pattern that inserted a mobile phone pocket into.

The amazing thing about the bag is that it folds up into itself to make a very small bundle.

Ingrid also modelled a skirt she had recently sewn up.

We are now all looking forward to our March meeting which is an all day workshop presented by Kay Platts.
